I am looking to begin a career in web development having recently completed a five-month long intensive professional bootcamp studying full-stack web development which has made me proficient in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Python, and Django. The course was hosted by Code Institute in partnership with Cornwall-based tech consultancy, Headforwards, to provide me with the skills to get started immediately in the sector. I really enjoyed my time on the course, finding the experience of learning and problem solving to be enriching and rewarding and a great kickstarter for what I hope to be my career. I want to learn more and improve my skills as a developer, being part of a professional team and producing work that I can be proud of, whilst making use of the skills the course provided. Throughout the course I used Git for version control, working on a number of solo projects and some group projects with other course mates. I learned first-hand about the potential difficulties but also the enjoyment of collaborative efforts, creating both a weather app and a companion app in short sprints of 3 days each, then presenting them to the study group. The creation of the weather app required me to investigate APIs and their usage, and the text-to-speech functionality of the companion app also used an API. My final project on the course used a PostgreSQL database to store user profiles and their associated data created on the site.
