I chose to pursue interior design because of my interest in how spaces function, feel, and come together through thoughtful design and technical detailing. After working as a Lighting Consultant, I also came to understand how significantly lighting shapes the experience of a space, which further deepened my interest in the relationship between interior design and lighting. I bring five years of experience as a Lighting Consultant at Norburn Lighting and Bath, where I work closely with designers, contractors, and homeowners to support lighting layouts and fixture selection while balancing design intent, technical requirements, and project budgets. Through this role, I have also developed a working knowledge of residential plumbing layouts and coordination, particularly as they relate to kitchens, bathrooms, and overall residential design. I have additionally worked on a contract basis with CHY Design as a Junior Designer, assisting with interior design drawings and CADbased project support. Through this experience, I strengthened my interest in working directly on interior drawings and contributing to the design development process. I hold a Diploma in Interior Design from BCIT and am currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design at a CIDA-accredited institution. Through my education, I have developed strong technical skills in AutoCAD, including reflected ceiling plans (RCPs) and detailed millwork drawings, along with experience using SketchUp, Enscape, and basic Revit. This background has given me a solid understanding of construction drawings, detailing, and coordination within residential interior design projects. I am now looking to expand my knowledge by working more consistently in the field. While my role with CHY Design was contract-based, it reinforced my desire to pursue a permanent position where I can continue learning, gain hands-on experience, and contribute long-term as part of a design team.
