I am Shereen Jasmin Phillips, a writer and dramaturg based in North West London. I am a graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a BA (Hons) in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education. I have worked within the artistic and creative engagement departments at major London institutions including National Theatre, Barbican Centre, and Hampstead Theatre. I have held roles as a Senior Project Manager, Creative Producer, and Festival Curator, and I served as Creative Director of Taking Part at Young Vic from 2018 to 2025, shaping the department’s strategic and creative vision while championing emerging artists and fostering community partnerships. I am also a trustee at Raw Material Music and Media and Access All Areas, organisations dedicated to inclusive and community arts work. As a multi-hyphenate writer, I enjoy experimenting with form and drawing on lived experience to create multifaceted characters that challenge audience perception. My plots are fuelled by wide-ranging research across diverse topics, and I pride myself on writing captivating narratives with playful dialogue for stage and screen. My short film was screened as part of the Royal Court’s Windrush event in 2019 and selected for Cardiff’s International Festival in 2020. In 2021 I received the Writers Guild Olwen Wymark Award for championing new writing, and I continue to develop my TV writing and theatre dramaturgy projects.
