Hi, I’m Sheila Dent. Storyteller, tools master, and audience advocate, always, I'm a details junkie decades skilled at culling the deluge into aptly (cleverly, when the situation allows) prioritized, easily digestible snippets I then design using an interplay of visual, verbal, and medium to invite useful engagement while also inspiring positive feelings toward the brand. Though I can contribute to strategy and certainly possess strong analytical skills (more on that in a sec), surround me with stacks (virtual or literal) of inputs — raw (or retouched) photos; audio or live interviews with founders and/or stakeholders talking about their vision and brand (hopefully not in rehearsed one-liners): bullet points, or fleshed out content about product(s), specs to anything that gives me a glimmer into what sets that product and brand apart from the masses — and I'm in my happy place, shaping (or overseeing the shaping of) each component while also expertly weaving it into the greater whole in light of current budget (time + dollars) and medium (digital and/or print). My key strengths: • knowing well the tools of the trade — I can complete work myself and/or, with a thorough understanding of what I'm asking (time-wise, skills-wise), assign it to team members • ibid regarding in-progress iterations (hone in on, specifically, what's off, then, specifically, how to fix it) • attention to detail and useful consistency per item + across campaigns and channels • big-picture protocols (devising a file naming structure, for example, to help with internal file search-ability across teams and platforms) • studying a tool's capabilities with an eye on adjustability to our specific needs (what's truly fixed vs alterable within budget) • helping unveil faulty assumptions toward an improved result • micro copy • advocating for the audience • advocating for the brand • advocating for smile-inducing experiences all around • lifestyle brands (love 'em!) My weaknesses: • animation (though I can envision stories and sequences, I'm not animation-software-savvy enough to bring my/my team's ideas into being) • video (know Adobe Premiere Pro basics, for certain, and my decades of Photoshop use translate to lighting and similar video editing skills, however I've spent little time exploring advanced capabilities of the Premiere Pro — yet nonetheless vastly prefer it to simpler (too simple, too controlling) online apps, at least for projects tackled to date)
