Having international experience working in the oil and gas industry over the last couple of years has been a valuable learning opportunity. At the time I had no knowledge of the industry, but my language and translation skills filled a gap the company desperately needed help with. From there I learned how to quickly adapt to working in a very fast-paced, male-dominated environment. Although initially timid, with time I acquired the confidence to walk into rooms. My track record of translating, communicating and negotiating with a wide range of people from all cultures, languages, industries and levels of experience shows that I am able to deal with a plethora of people. During my time at NCUK Bogota I attended various functions hosted by the Australian Embassy, where I was able to network and create new alliances and opportunities for the company. Andrea Marshall volunteered at a primary school in Colombia, helping restore the football pitch and the school's classrooms. I am able to listen to and understand the needs of each student and tailor lessons.
