Hello, My name is Mariella Spagnolo. I am a dedicated Fundraiser and Event Specialist with over 20 years of experience in the field. In addition to my professional event management background, I spent 7 years as a faculty member at Bergen Community College, where I taught Event Management with a particular emphasis on helping the community Throughout my career in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, I have developed strong organizational and time management skills. One of my significant accomplishments was launching my own business, I Love Events, LLC, in 2011 while living in Latin America. This company offers a range of services, including Concierge and Tourism Services, Event Management, and Nonprofit Fundraising and Gala Production. These ventures have allowed me to refine my skills and demonstrate my ability to manage complex projects across diverse environments. I am especially proud of my work supporting the Institución Fatima, the International Partner of Perkins School for the Blind, located in Buenos Aires. This school for blind-deaf children faced major financial challenges, relying mainly on limited private donations and the proceeds from an annual newsletter, which only barely covered essential operating costs during a time of economic crisis. After visiting the school, I implemented a new fundraising strategy that included organizing large-scale galas and cultivation events. Over a period of six years, these efforts generated more than 4,000,000 pesos (approximately $500,000 USD). I was responsible for conceptualizing, producing, and executing all event logistics, and I led a team of 40 volunteers. As a result of these initiatives, the school was able to expand its facilities and increase student enrollment, ensuring that more blind-deaf children receive the education they need and deserve. Today, Institución Fatima is highly recognized in its community, and support from public resources has seen significant growth. My guiding philosophy, as recorded in the institutional video, is: “Si puedes ayudar, debes ayudar,” which means “If you can help, you must.” This principle is one I believe we should remind ourselves of regularly. Over the years, and continuing today, I have served as a fundraising consultant for a variety of nonprofit organizations. By contributing innovative ideas, creativity, urgency, and persistence, I have secured new sponsorships, doubled fundraising revenues, and achieved established targets. My experience includes prospecting donors across multiple markets and generating income for annual galas. In the nonprofit fundraising sector, I have taken on numerous responsibilities such as process development, grant writing, donor research and relationship building, partnership cultivation, and budgeting—all of which support advancing the mission of each organization. To date, I have raised close to $5 million in fundraising revenue.
