Hi, I’m Camila Asken, a fourth-year Illustration student at I.P. Arcos. I am dedicated to exploring countries’ various ecosystems in depth – things I missed out on seeing, reading about and touching during my childhood. After studying biology for two semesters and half a semester, I made it my mission to show others the strange and diverse living creatures of our region. Long live the flora and fauna! Long live the democratization of art and knowledge! My main method is digital illustration and painting, simulating acrylic markers and polychrome paints with textures and various brushes to provide high-quality illustrations at a lower cost for everyone. I aim to bring people closer to our native flora and fauna, our national heritage, the environment and indigenous peoples through charming animals and educational infographics. I design eye-catching and entertaining characters to engage with educational topics for children, using simple shapes with intricate internal detail and clearly depicted fur or feathers. I also work on personal projects such as Anonymous poem illustration and Toques art-nouveau, a publishing project designed to showcase my attention to detail and my view of the relationship between humans and animals. I have experience planning, analogue illustration, and mix techniques, including projects like Dinosaurios de Chile (Stegouros elengassen, Arackar licanantay, Chilesaurus diegosuarezi, Atacamatitan chilensis), which spark curiosity about our country’s wildlife.
