The tense silence is broken when she says in Portuguese, “Anda lá, acorda” (“Come on, wake up”) to the sniper, followed by a more urgent shout of “Acorda!” (“Wake up!”), before the trailer cuts to black and displays the film’s credits.

The video, titled “The Ilusion - Smoke Film,” is a short artistic project by Pedro Cunha released in 2008. It focuses on the psychological struggle and habit of smoking, utilizing close-up shots of cigarettes being lit in dimly lit settings.

Midway through the video, a text card appears on the screen with a powerful statement about addiction:

“You Would like to quit… But you just panic. Maybe someday, but not now!”

It concludes with a whisper saying “I can’t take no more,” as a cigarette is stubbed out in an ashtray, emphasizing the overwhelming feeling of being trapped by the habit. The video features a moody soundtrack by Mindskap and was originally produced in February 2006.

The original score for O Diário do Meu Assassinato was crafted to translate the narrative’s claustrophobic atmosphere, paranoia, and psychological duality. As a suspense/thriller short film, the primary goal of the music was not just to accompany the visuals, but to act as an extension of the protagonist’s mind and the mystery surrounding the “diary.”

The entire score was composed, arranged, and mixed digitally (DAW), with a heavy focus on integrating sound design with the music. Everyday noises were manipulated and woven into the score to blur the line between sound effects (foley) and music, fully immersing the audience in the story’s mental chaos.
