Uplift is a hospitality and cultural brand concept that connects the Pacific Northwest and Japan through shared experiences in travel, music, food, design, and nature. The visual identity draws inspiration from the landscapes that define both regions—mountains, water, mist, volcanic terrain, and the Pacific Ocean—creating a refined system that feels both regional and international.
The project extends the identity into a complete guest experience, including a curated vinyl exchange featuring musicians from Japan and the Pacific Northwest, regionally inspired coffee blends, hotel and travel kits, beverages, collectible enamel pins, and branded merchandise. Each touchpoint was designed as an opportunity for discovery, allowing travelers to take a small piece of the culture and landscape home with them.
The visual system combines custom typography, Japanese and English type treatments, organic illustrations, tactile materials, and a palette of deep Pacific blues, soft neutrals, black, and warm metallic tones. Fluid patterns reference water, topography, weather, and volcanic formations while creating continuity across packaging, print, environmental, and physical applications.
At its core, Uplift explores how a hospitality brand can become a cultural connector—using thoughtful design and curated objects to create meaningful exchanges between Portland, the greater Pacific Northwest, and Japan.…Uplift is a hospitality and cultural brand concept that connects the Pacific Northwest and Japan through shared experiences in travel, music, food, design, and nature.
