Hi, I’m Jack Masterson, a seasoned filmmaker and video editor with over 12 years of experience bringing visual stories to life.
I specialise in full-cycle production, from concept development and scriptwriting to camera operation, editing, and final delivery. Whether I’m leading as Director of Photography, operating the camera, or piecing together narratives in the edit suite, I bring a calm, collaborative energy to every shoot.
Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of clients from global brands like BMW, Land Rover, Amazon, 2K Games, and The British Museum to small businesses and couples on their wedding day. My work spans commercial, corporate, documentary, and event filmmaking. No matter the scale, I approach every project with care, creativity, and professionalism.
Technically, I’m fully equipped with my own gear, including a Sony FX9 and FX3, and I’m proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve. I also offer drone operation (certified) and have skills in colour grading, sound design, and motion graphics.
I’m highly organised, great with people, and experienced in managing teams, timelines, and budgets. After running my own production business for several years in the UK, I’ve recently relocated to North Vancouver and am now open to freelance opportunities across Canada.
If you’re looking for someone who can shoot, edit, manage, and elevate your video content from start to finish, let’s connect.

This film was part of a three-part series I created for Owen Scott Bespoke Tailors, highlighting their locations in Huddersfield, Manchester, and Leeds.
It was a rewarding project that gave me the creative freedom to explore visual storytelling and craft something that felt unique to each space. The client was especially pleased with how the final films reflected their brand identity and met the brief with style and substance.

Working with GA Pet Food Partners, I created this film to highlight their brand-new facility during the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person visits were not possible.
The goal was to make the virtual experience engaging and informative for viewers and partners alike. I was responsible for writing and shooting the entire production.

I was responsible for shooting, editing, and drone operation, working closely with a small, agile crew to bring the concept to life.

Working alongside Chris Rose at Dare Studios, we collaborated with chef Ben to create a beautifully shot piece showcasing one of his signature dishes — a Japanese-style rice bowl.
The film highlights Ben’s process, passion, and attention to detail, offering a visually rich glimpse into his culinary craft.

They say never work with kids or animals — but this project was a welcome exception. The children were full of energy, up for having fun, and brilliantly behaved when it counted.
I had the pleasure of shooting and editing a series of playful, bite-sized ads for Primark, showcasing their latest kidswear range for the UK market. The final content was tailored for social media, capturing genuine moments and vibrant energy.

For the second consecutive year, I was commissioned to shoot and edit the official highlights video for Sheffield DocFest, one of the UK’s leading documentary festivals.
Spanning six days, the event brings together filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences from around the world. My role involved capturing the energy, key moments, and atmosphere of the festival to produce a dynamic and engaging highlights reel.

I lit and shot this commercial for the University of Manchester in the UK.
The campaign was aimed at parents, challenging common misconceptions about creative degrees. The goal was to highlight the wide range of career opportunities available to graduates in the creative industries — from production and design to marketing and digital media.
I had the privilege of working with Kirkwood Hospice to produce a short documentary highlighting their inspirational singing group, the Kirkwood Chorus.
Singing has been widely recognised for its positive cognitive effects on individuals living with dementia. This project celebrates the power of music in enhancing memory, connection, and well-being.
As part of this initiative, the group received special permission from Labi Siffre to record a heartfelt cover of one of his iconic songs, which they released as a charity single in support of the hospice.
