Born into a musical family, with his Dad and Mum both members of the Reading Phoenix Choir and a cellist and flautist respectively, Alexander Felix Hull found music almost immediately. Beginning at the age of 5, instrumental lessons in drums and classical guitar and participation in orchestras, choirs, jazz and pop bands and percussion ensembles at school, university and at the Berkshire Maestros Music Centre in Reading have contributed to Alex's style. Alex's compositional journey began in music education, with coursework compositions for GCSE and A Level Music, progressing to his Kenya compositions: a series of works, including the Kenyan Lieder Cycle and Suite for Chamber Orchestra No.2 about various parts of his volunteering trip to Kenya in 2012 with the organisation Camps International, where he met filmmaker Kirk Watson of Perfect View Productions, the director of South of Sanity. Alex attended Oxford Brookes University, studying Music between 2012 and 2015, before going on to do a Masters Degree specialising in Composition for Film and Television under composer Philip Chambon at Kingston University London between 2017 and 2018, making valuable connections, and gaining experience in scoring for live action, documentaries and animated films. Alex's first credited film score was the student film The Murdicle Farce in 2015, and he has continued to work on various media projects such as the student animation Top Dog in 2017 which was a selection for the Beer Town Film Festival in 2017. His first paid film score was the Horror film Falling Angel in 2018, for the American director Augustus Marinak, which was followed by a further short film collaboration with the same director - Window of Darkness in 2021. Alex has also collaborated with South of Sanity Director and BAFTA winner Kirk Watson on his Scotland Showreel in 2017 and Nick Pritchard of Megasloth Studios on the mobile phone game Choreo Go Loco in 2020.
