    uniE621 Logo Samples, stand-alone
This is a sample of various logos that were designed over the last few years. Each speaks to a different audience and was designed based on a brief that the client supplied. The logos were the foundation for the branding that followed.

uniE621 Oversized print brochure for property development (Brazil)
The property development company had plans for an exclusive development in the lush sector of northeast Brazil and their initial needs included a brochure to represent the natural beauty of this location, their plans for development, and opportunities of investing in and living there. They also needed specific inserts for specific clients. I designed an oversized folder with interior flaps. Once open, the brochure unfolded to expose beautiful images one by one. The interior glued pocket held several sheets of extra information, all designed as part of the brochure. I had already designed the logo and branding and this project included researching the appropriate photography and presenting the images and content in an impactful brochure that basically served as a comprehensive invitation. I designed the logo and branding and could creatively carry it across a variety of collateral so it was in keeping with this first important piece. uniE621 Corporate and Product Logos and Branding for Software Company (Canada)
As part of their 25th anniversary celebration, Mira Geoscience, a Canadian mining software company wanted to refresh their brand. Mira—Spanish for look says it all. I began with the curves that emerge from the grids and visuals of their software, simplified them, gave them depth, and provided several iterations until we would see an “eye” within the logo. The design represents the essential message of seeing into the earth to expose what lies beneath. The dynamic curves and colours in the shape of an eye indicate the company’s vision and the probing and discoveries made by the software. I maintained four strong colors from their previous logo and created curves and shapes to incorporate into social media and print graphics. I created graphics for stationary, mousepads, exhibition panels, reports, etc. and importantly, created the first branding guide manual. uniE621 Logo and Branding for London UK restaurant (UK)
Opening in the midst of the pandemic, this Canadian chef based in London wanted to brand and market his Detroit-style pizza to hungry Londoners. So at first all of the artwork was for digital distribution so it included email shots and social media graphics. The idea was to pick up on the 1950s style look and feel from Detroit. I designed the main logo, and wrote the tagline: “Baked in Blue Steel.” Later I designed a logo for their sports bar and the necessary collateral for signage, menus, pizza boxes, website, etc. My work also included digital presentations for landlords as well as a short branding guidelines manual. I created the logo and developed the branding. uniE621 Technical Illustration for Environmental Engineering Firm (Canada)
An environmental engineering firm approached me to create an illustration that would simplify and explain in one drawing how a proposed landfill would operate. After question-and-answer sessions with the engineering team, I used their rough sketches to help me understand what this would look like. I created a 3D vector drawing with a cutaway to illustrate the principal underground and above ground elements and processes. Together with the engineers, I completed the illustration after a few iterations so that it could be presented a local townhalls and inserted into proposals. uniE621 Book Cover and Interior Design, Fiction (Chile)
This fiction noir novel needed a front and back cover design to reflect the mystery and intrigue that lay within its pages. I designed a deliberately dark cover with contrasting red to pick up on the energy of the story, and distinct, stylized images of fabric as symbols of the Chilean flag during a violent time of crisis. The cover, although, representing the story itself, conformed to the style of other covers by this author. I also designed the interior book pages for both print and e-book formats, keeping the familiar look and feel for this author. uniE621 Raise the Bar Campaign Design (Canada)
I designed the campaign concept for Canadian market research firm when they contacted me to ask for something ‘out-of-the-box’ that would grab the attention of busy healthcare professionals. The desire was to capture their attention and invite them to initiate research and feedback programs that would help improve the quality of their healthcare delivery. The concept is based on the idea of keep up with latest innovations, keeping the bar high. I used humor and colorful graphics with a moveable print piece (measuring tape), packaged into a custom envelope. The outside print and copy was designed to create curiosity and entice busy people to take their time to check inside. I created the campaign idea, visuals and text. uniE621 Presentation London Restaurant (UK)
A growing restaurant wanted to introduce themselves to property agents in order to find appropriate new space. They asked me to design a concise, visual presentation to explain who they are, their style and what kind of space they were looking for. I used mood images and bold graphics so it would be easy to interpret their needs at a glance. The presentation helped them move forward quickly and they easily found the right location. uniE621 Exhibition Panel Design (UK)
This UK Mutual Insurance company needed me to design a modular exhibition stand to show off the scope of their services. Adhering to established branding, I created the design across several panels in such a way that the panels could be moved to suit their exhibition space, changing the flow but keeping the design intact. I also designed a plinth and table stand to accompany the main pieces. uniE621 Promotional Brochure (Ethiopia)
Through the University of British Columbia, the Government of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum requested an information brochure be designed to help promote their rich mineral resources. They provided technical information and I translated it into visuals, graphs and maps-as-icons in order to present at a glance, the major deposits and their locations. This challenging content required strong imagery, so I opened each section with a full-page photo of the corresponding Ethiopian landscape. The result is an image-rich brochure that highlights technical information across colorful graphs and tables. uniE621 Web Design and WordPress Development, Print and Digital Booklets (Canada)
Working with an established alliance of Native groups in the province of British Columbia, the client requested an information-heavy website and also print and digital versions of the same information, dividing it into specific sections. I based the look and feel on the existing site for the Alliance and modified it so that it could stand alone and be distinct but would still relate to the larger Alliance. I researched nature photography from the province and incorporated it into title pages and sections of the website itself. The navigation also provided the user easy and clear access to footnotes and references. The result was a comprehensive, easily navigated website and accessible short documents that could be compiled into one single report.
