Senior Full Stack Engineer at Studee

Initially joined part-time as a senior full-stack engineer, later transitioning to full-time as the organisation and engineering needs evolved. I contributed as a senior backend developer, expanding and stabilising a large Symfony-based API, while mentoring engineers and guiding architectural decisions. I led cloud and infrastructure modernization, supporting migration into AWS, containerisation, and Kubernetes. I also led frontend work during a migration to Angular, rebuilding the internal CMS as a SPA, and supported a full public website rewrite using Angular SSR to improve performance, SEO, and scalability. I designed and implemented new API capabilities, including roles, groups, permissions, and Google authentication. I built and owned a publicly available Web API layer (Node/Express), later introducing a high-performance Go implementation. I mentored junior engineers and supported delivery through pragmatic Agile coaching and collaboration with product stakeholders.

Led the greenfield Beetroot platform from concept to production, working closely with the founder and Managing Director. Owned technical strategy and delivery, designed a cost-conscious cloud architecture balancing minimal spend with aggressive scaling, and established Agile delivery using Scrum within a small cross-functional team. Collaborated with senior stakeholders to translate business goals into pragmatic, scalable technical decisions and built the platform itself, including website, API, internal systems, and cloud infrastructure.

Progressed from senior/lead engineering roles into hybrid lead and Scrum Master positions, blending hands-on technical leadership with delivery facilitation. Introduced and embedded Scrum practices in teams previously operating in waterfall environments, improving predictability, engagement and delivery confidence. Enabled iterative releases and regained control over scope and prioritisation. Onboarded and aligned non-engineering teams (content, marketing, data) with Agile ways of working, improving cross-team collaboration. Supported teams through multiple acquisitions, stepping into hybrid delivery and product leadership roles during periods of reduced product ownership.
