    uniE621 Zacatepec: Hometown Identity
The Brief: Zacatepec is a small town in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, seeking a brand identity that blends its vibrant cultural heritage with a clean, contemporary aesthetic. The new identity should be versatile and suitable for use across a wide range of platforms. The Approach: I developed a brand identity inspired by the indigenous communities whose traditions shape the town’s character. Their colors, patterns, and visual language served as the foundation for a cohesive branding system. Paired with modern typography and design principles, these elements create a visual identity that both honors tradition and projects a forward-looking, professional image. The Logo: The logo is based on the origin and meaning of the name Zacatepec, which comes from Nahuatl, an indigenous language of Mexico. It combines zacatl (“grass” or “herb”) and tepetl (“hill” or “mountain”), translating to “hill of grass” or “the place where grass grows on the mountain.” The mark depicts a hill and surrounding mountains embracing the community, using geometric forms inspired by the region’s traditional textiles. This fusion of symbolism and craftsmanship reflects both the landscape and the cultural identity of Zacatepec. uniE621 Verdex
The Brief: Verdex is a new footwear brand that brings together modern style and eco-friendly thinking. Everything from the materials to the design is focused on sustainability, comfort, and appealing to people who care about the planet as much as they care about looking good. The Challenge: Create a visual brand identity that shows off Verdex’s green mindset while still feeling fresh, stylish, and competitive with big names like Nike, Adidas, and Converse. The look needs to feel modern and confident without losing the brand’s sustainable core. The Approach: The identity blends Verdex’s eco values with a clean, athletic vibe. The logo—built from simple geometric shapes that hint at both a tree and an upward arrow—captures ideas of growth, direction, and nature all at once. Paired with a bold, green-based color palette, it instantly communicates sustainability while still feeling strong and contemporary. The typography adds to this balance: the sans-serif type feels modern and performance-driven, while the script brings in a friendly, human touch. Together, they create a brand look that feels approachable, forward-thinking, and ready to compete. uniE621 Loteria: Mexican Bingo
The Brief: La Lotería is a traditional Mexican board game introduced in the 18th century, with origins in France. Over time, it became deeply rooted in everyday life and is now considered an iconic symbol of Mexican culture. The Challenge: Reimagine the game to create an educational version that helps children ages 8–10 learn about key aspects of Mexican culture. The Approach: I developed a series of hand-drawn illustrations using a vibrant, contemporary color palette to give the game a fresh and modern look. The redesigned cards feature a rich variety of characters, traditions, objects, and foods that reflect the diversity and spirit of Mexican culture.
