Hi, I’m Flor de María Nucamendi Salas, a Mexican illustrator, graphic designer and crafter. I’m passionate about creating engaging visuals and exploring colorful, print and digital media. Since 2007 I’ve worked on a wide range of projects, building experience across branding, illustration and product design, always eager for new, creative challenges.
I love turning ideas into practical, visually appealing solutions—from corporate identity and packaging to textile patterns and editorial design. I’m collaborative, detail-oriented and driven by a curiosity to experiment with new techniques and media.

EDITEC invited me to collaborate on an international children’s book illustration project alongside a group of illustrators, created for English-speaking audiences. This illustration series was one of the two projects I developed as part of this collaboration.
The main objective of this project was to illustrate the Amazon rainforest, with special attention to accurately representing the flora and fauna native to this unique geographical region.
I aimed to maintain a colorful and engaging visual style that would capture the reader’s attention and invite them to explore the rich details of the plants, flowers, and animals featured throughout the story.

EDITEC invited me to collaborate on an international children’s book illustration project, working alongside a group of talented illustrators to bring meaningful stories to life for English-speaking children. This illustration series is one of the two projects I developed as part of this collaboration.
The goal of this story was to visually explore the emotional journey of an older sibling upon the arrival of a new baby sister. Through facial expressions and body language, the illustrations capture the initial uncertainty and emotional complexity, gradually evolving into a relationship built on love, care, and protection—ultimately culminating in a moment of shared family happiness.
As part of the creative direction, EDITEC asked that the illustrations embrace inclusivity by representing diverse racial backgrounds and subtle depictions of disability, ensuring the story feels welcoming and relatable to a broad audience of children and families.

At the “Cacao and Chocolate” University House of the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco (UJAT), there is an interactive room where visitors can learn about the history and process of cacao through illustrative infographics. Throughout the exhibit, there are touchscreens with information and interactive games related to cacao.
My participation in this project consisted of illustrating the flora and fauna found in the cacao plantation ecosystem, information about which can be viewed on an interactive touchscreen.
