    Project Overview

When I joined Bethel Church’s communications team, a new website had just launched. While it followed the brand guide technically, it lacked clarity, cohesion, and user functionality. Visitors were hitting dead ends, encountering non-functional buttons, and struggling to navigate on mobile.

After a few months of observation and feedback, I proposed a complete redesign centered on relational clarity, usability, and mobile-first design.

    Project Goals

    • Eliminate dead-end pages and improve site navigation
    • Align design more closely with the spirit of the brand
    • Fix mobile navigation and hamburger menu issues
    • Use whitespace and real people imagery to build connection
    • Build a scalable layout structure for future content

    What I Did

    • Conducted internal UX review and user journey mapping
    • Designed and pitched a redesigned homepage and site map
    • Focused on storytelling and clear visual hierarchy
    • Led multiple rounds of review with creative stakeholders
    • Partnered with dev team through implementation and launch

    Results

    • Improved navigation kept users flowing through the site
    • Mobile menu became fully functional and easy to use
    • Visual consistency across pages increased brand trust
    • Relational design (faces, whitespace, clean CTAs) created a more inviting feel
    • Scalable layout allowed other teams to build future content without breaking design

    What I Learned

    • Collective vision makes rollout smoother across departments
    • Small issues like broken buttons or unclear layouts matter
    • Consistency in design improves trust and usability
    • Keeping the user in the loop is just as important as aesthetics
