I am a curious medical artist in pursuit of conveying knowledge through art. I distill complex medical information into visual resources for education and use good communication skills to collaborate on complicated projects with teammates and clients.
My work blends science and storytelling, and I’m driven by education focused design. I use an iterative design process to create my works, spend additional time learning new techniques and methods to tackle specific projects. My overall focus is turning challenging medical topics into approachable visuals that support learning and care.

This is part of a larger project exploring the aesthetic design of prosthetics and was my dissertation project for my MSc in medical art at Dundee University.
These two designs explored the concept of having a modular prosthetic device so the wearer could swap out external plates to change the appearance. These style of prosthetics already exist however often materials are very limited for upper limb prosthetics. To explore this concept two different prosthetic devices were deigned based on Open Bionic’s Hero Arm and used two of their cover models as a base and rendered them using transparent and metal materials.

This is part of a larger project exploring the aesthetic design of prosthetics and was my dissertation project for my MSc in medical art at Dundee University.
These two designs explored the concept of having a ‘Made to Order’ Prosthetic device in which the wearer could select certain standardised materials before construction. To explore this concept two different prosthetic devices were deigned based on Ottobocks bebionic hand and using two different core concepts (Culture and Comfort) to guide the designs.

This is part of a larger project exploring the aesthetic design of prosthetics and was my dissertation project for my MSc in medical art at Dundee University.
These two designs explored the possibility of having prosthetics being made with a fake skin that was receptive to tattoo ink to allow for wearers to have greater customisation over their own limbs. To explore this concept two different styles of tattoos were depicted (Geometric and American Traditional) to give a greater variety of designs, as well as different skin tones chosen for each prosthetic.

Adventures in Oral Health is a comic produced for the Dundee University’s School of Dentistry and the Company SmileTrain to help children understand oral health and how to care for their own teeth.
My job during the 3 month project was the illustration and design of characters and backgrounds along with paneling. The 1rst draft script was written by me and was refined with additional information by the School of Dentistry.
The comic can be viewed here along with preliminary sketches and style exploration for the project: https://www.twine.net/signin
A digital painting of a human scapula with focus put of the textures, transparency and surface of the bone. The painting was done based on physical reference (an actual scapula that I had in my possession during the time of the project) with the specific bony features mimicking the defects seen on the bone.
This project was undertaken during my time studying medical art at the University of Dundee and served as a crash course in 3D Modelling and Animation.
The project consisted of a turntable animation of a pair of modelled kidneys, one healthy and one that is afflicted by polycystic kidney disease. After rendering the final animation Adobe Premier was used to edit the video adding additional information to create the final video.
Programs used:
Zbrush
Keyshot
Substance Painter
Adobe Premier
An illustration of Porco Rosso undertaken as a personal project to practice perspective, colour and to explore more ways of adding subtle textured to digital works.
Below are the different stages of the digital illustration, showing the different layers and steps used to come to a final image, as well as a split image so that a larger image could be viewed on a mobile device.
