I am Jose, born in the late summer of 1998 in Oaxaca, Mexico, but I came to live a few months later in Genoa, Italy. My passion for art and illustration was born among the animated shorts of Emanuele Luzzati and the cartoons of Goscinny and Uderzo, flying with the Classics, Dante and the music of Italian singer-songwriting. My artistic journey began at the Paul Klee - Barabino High School of Art in Genoa. From the boundless passion for Homeric poems, I create a stage name for myself: Kanenas, Greek for “Nobody.” It would be the name I would use for all the exhibitions and events I participated in.
Once I graduated, I continued with the three-year course in Art Graphics at the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts, and after a first publication, I exhibit in a group show with Divulgarti at Palazzo Saluzzo (GE).
My artistic style is inspired by the colors and forms of the statues of Mexican alebrijes. The main themes are the stories of characters from North Africa.
In 2021, through Divulgate You, I am joining CAM (catalog of modern art). Cairo Mondadori Publishing. Then in 2022 I participate in the “First Prize of the City of Berlin” with an exhibition at Von Zeidler Art Gallery. Finally in 2022 with the painting “Spectrum Red” I was invited by Art Now to the fourth “Bienal de arte de Barcelona” at the MEAM Museum.
After working in other contexts for two years I wanted to return to the university to improve and enhance my possibilities, so I started my master’s degree at ISIA in Urbino, where I took a course in illustration for publishing.
