Hi everyone! I'm Louis; an award-winning film composer based in the UK. _Website not available. My music is heavily influenced by the Anglican choral tradition, particularly as a result of two years singing with the Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge; the same place where Harry and Rupert Gregson-Williams were choristers. Prioritising rich orchestration and emotional nuance, I hope to add a feeling of sincerity to everything I write. Louis is a classical musician, educated by some of the UK’s most beloved institutions. Originally training as a vocalist, composition became Louis’ focus in 2019; he was awarded a place at the Royal College of Music for 2021 with a fully funded scholarship provided by the Leverhulme Trust, and subsequently graduated with distinction in July 2023. I was beyond delighted to receive the award for 'Best Original Film Music' at the Watersprite Film Festival in 2024 (the largest student film festival in the world) and I'm fortunate enough to also be a BBC Music Magazine award winner as part of the Choir of St John's College, Cambridge in in 2017 for the album 'Deo'.

Industry Experience

Media & Entertainment, Retail, Education, Transportation & Logistics, Professional Services
uniE603 1M02-04 Reflections, Go Time, Farewell
The closing cue to Victor Healey's animation 'Song of the Tadpole', a film which won the 'Best Original Film Music' category at the Watersprite Film Festival in 2024.
    uniE608 MicroMann (rescore)
Rescored with permission from the original animator/director, this was written for the Royal College of Music's Showcase concert in 2023. Taking place within the world of Team Fortress 2, the Blu Team attempt to capture the Red Team's intelligence briefcase using an experimental shrink ray.
uniE608 Something Cute - Orchestral Score Video
A stand-alone piece of music written for an orchestral recording session at the Royal College of Music. This inadvertently led to picking up a Central St Martins' animation project that won an award for its Film Music, so it's quite a meaningful little thing for me!
    uniE608 The Creed
A trailer-esque cue, written at the request of 'The Cue Tube' for their 4 Composers, 1 Clip series on YouTube.
    uniE603 Kintsugi - 1M01 Ikkiuchi
1M01 Ikkiuchi; the opening cue from the short film 'Kintsugi' by Rodolfo Aguilar Strecke. “After a sudden family relocation, Luis, a Samurai-obsessed young boy, desires to prove himself to his older brother Andrés. Whilst their mother does her best to hide the truth behind their new living arrangements, the two brothers eventually must face the reality of their situation, forcing them to understand that not all issues can be solved in a sword fight.” Many sequences of the film take place in Luis' imagination, so the score calls for a lot of traditional Japanese instrumentation, and a general sense of mysteriousness and uncertainty.
uniE603 Now That We Found Love
One of the many vocal arrangements I've produced, this time for Windsor-based sextet 'The Queen's Six'. Recorded in 2021, and published by Signum Classics on February 14th 2022.
    uniE603 Elegiac
A short piece of music written for a masterclass with Oscar-winning composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice) in which we had to expand upon a short tune that another classmate had written. After describing me and my working processes as 'broken', Dario was wholly positive about the music I'd written.
