I am Mehrdad Jafari Raad, a passionate composer, educator, and researcher based in Toronto. I specialize in composing original scores and sound designs for films and media, collaborating with filmmakers and visual artists to create award-winning works showcased at top international festivals. I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Christos Hatzis.
With a strong background in electronic music, traditional and ethnic music research, and performance expertise in various traditional instruments, I enjoy mentoring students and participating in festival curation. I love exploring the intersection of tradition and innovation in contemporary music composition while embracing technology to enhance musical creativity.
