Majau: The Harvest Tale – Animated Film

Majau: The Harvest Tale is an animated film trailer created to introduce a story rooted in land, memory, ancestral wisdom, and the spiritual relationship between people and nature.

The story follows a village facing disaster as its paddy fields begin to die. When ominous visions warn of approaching doom, a farmer named Balan must confront ancient wind spirits in order to save his wife, Bungan, and restore harmony to the land.

Our role was to shape the trailer into a cinematic introduction that could communicate the emotional tone, cultural world, and central conflict of the story within a short format. The project required a balance between fantasy, folklore, environmental tension, and character-driven storytelling.

The trailer highlights the story’s key themes of courage, reconciliation, ancestral knowledge, and the enduring symbolic power of the Sape within Sarawak’s cultural imagination.
