During a quiet night shift at a remote radio telescope, young astronomer Charlie detects a signal that should not exist. As the transmission grows stranger, he heads out into the night beyond the safety of the observatory to find it’s origin.

Written in an afternoon, shot in a single day and edited over a week, Signals is a compact science-fiction mystery about curiosity, isolation and the human instinct to answer when something calls back.

The film was also made to raise awareness of the funding cuts threatening scientific operations at Jodrell Bank, home to the iconic Lovell Telescope. Without alternative funding, active radio-astronomy observations there are expected to cease in 2028.
