    While I was in school, I worked as a barista at a locally owned Human Bean coffee stand. The franchise owner approached me with a request to design a t‑shirt for the store showcasing my hometown and state. She wanted something clean and simple, with the design printed in white on a black shirt and aligned with the Human Bean's brand guidelines.     This assignment required me to redesign three book covers. Ultimately I chose the Beast series, a four‑volume spinoff of Bungo Stray Dogs, because it was a series I felt genuinely inspired to reinterpret. I approached the redesign with a minimal aesthetic, using subtle visual cues to reflect each character’s personality. The color behind each character symbolizes who they are. For some of the character imagery, I edited the original artwork by converting it to black and white, then inverting the image symbolizing the alternate reality this story takes place in and adjusting the contrast to create a bold, stylized effect. The back covers feature manga panels that include the same characters shown on the front, tying the designs together. To keep the mockups consistent with traditional manga formatting, I inverted both the mockup and the design, so the final presentation reads like a true manga volume.…
