Community Owners is a location-based social platform built to make supporting local businesses feel like playing a city-wide strategy game. I served as Co-Founder and Technical Lead, responsible for designing and developing the full technology stack, from product architecture to production deployment.

The product lets users upload receipts from participating businesses, earn points, “own shares” of their favourite local spots, and climb leaderboards that reflect real community influence. On the merchant side, businesses gain a lightweight marketing engine that rewards customer loyalty, increases repeat visits, and boosts visibility through community-driven engagement.

Technical Highlights
• Built the full-stack platform using modern JavaScript frameworks and cloud infrastructure.
• Developed a receipt-processing system that translates purchases into in-game value using an automated valuation algorithm.
• Implemented dynamic leaderboards, user profiles, rewards logic, and scalable merchant onboarding tools.
• Integrated geolocation and social-sharing mechanics to reinforce the feeling of playing a real-life board game mapped onto the city.
• Designed an early version of a gamified AR experience for scavenger hunts, business discovery, and in-city challenges.
