Reverb360 aka Captain Hook, was born Thapelo Manamela, in the small village of Ga Manamela In Polokwane, and raised in Embalenhle township in Mpumalanga, where his love for music was roused. Before moving to Pretoria; where began to realize his journey with music, he decided that he would go study classical music at Wits, which did not work out because he came to understand that his attraction to music was more technical than oratory. So when his sister told him to go enquire at Damelin regarding a specialized sound engineering course, he enrolled himself there immediately, and did not look back, ever again. Having decided to pursue an independent path in music after graduating in 2010, Not only was he working 4 different studios as executive producer; but he was also overseeing the final mastering stages of Lady Zamar’s first project. When he finally decided to get back into the booth; Reverb360 started his solo career off with a bang, producing a number of hot hit songs that were on rotation on YFM’s Hot 99, featuring the likes of Rebel Inc., This Is Venom, PdotO, and The Anvils, to mention a few. “Working with these various artists attracted a lot of attention to my brand, and attention meant business” Independent meant self – funded and resourceful, so in 2012, he began working on his own sound, and started becoming recognised for his alter ego “Captain Hook”, who was notorious for soulful melodies and banging hooks which made even the dullest song, come to life.
