Samuel J. I. Marks is a Sydney-based screen composer specialising in music for film, television and video games. A dedicated lifelong student and innovative music creator, he crafts emotionally resonant, story-driven scores that elevate narrative across broadcast and interactive media. In 2025, Sam won the APRA AMCOS Professional Development Award in Screen Music. In 2024, he was nominated for an APRA Screen Music Award for Best Music for a Video Game. Sam holds a Bachelor of Composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and a Bachelor of Audio Production from SAE. He began studying classical piano at age four before transitioning to guitar at twelve, performing in rock bands while maintaining a strong classical foundation. This blend of formal training and contemporary practice informs his versatile compositional voice. He is currently expanding his musical language through studies in Gypsy Jazz with Stéphane Wrembel. Their second original video game soundtrack is set for release soon. Alongside his screen work, Sam releases original rock music and performs regularly in Sydney as a vocalist and guitarist. He has performed original music at venues including Marrickville Factory Theatre, The Metro, The Lair, Frankies Pizza and the inaugural Sunsets Festival.
