I am a Jazz Composer, Bassist, and Educator currently based in Northern New Jersey. While my main genre is in the field of Jazz, I also have experience writing for video games, classical music, and have knowledge of on the spot arranging and performing as a session musician for pop, R&B, singer-songwriter, and musical theatre genres. During my time at SUNY Purchase, I had released an album of original compositions and arrangements, with genres represented including jazz, jazz fusion, and even classical. The album is titled: Who Will You Be. I have also experienced tutelage from jazz legends such as Rufus Reid, Steve Wilson, Noriko Ueda, Pete McGuinness, Ed Neumeister, Cecil Bridgewater, and from electronica performer and composer Howey Kenty from my years at both Purchase and Wiliam Paterson. I also have been working on storytelling as a main focus of my compositional studies. For my master’s I had done a lecture recital on narrative and programmatic elements in free improvisation, using the jazz poetry album Celebrations and Solitudes as a body to base my research off. Using this research I also developed my own multimedia work that I performed as part of the William Paterson University New Music Series titled Sketches from the Cocoon, which I had wrote the music, poetry, drew the sketches, and performed as bass and poet. Storytelling has been my passion for years both in a musical context, and in a broader artistic context, as I believe the different arts influence each other in a deep and meaningful way, and the more one can achieve fluidity in these fields, the more they can flourish as a storyteller as medium becomes less of a barrier, and more a tool to mix to create more dynamic work.
