I am a classically trained composer and pianist with a grounding in twentieth century compositional techniques. I am specialised in the use of music technology as a creative production tool. I compose, mix and produce contemporary music in my own studio as well as collaboratively both online and in recording studios producing recordings for a range of classical and contemporary musicians. I also work as a sound engineer fixing dialogue and voice recordings. I use Logic Pro and iZotope RX on a regular basis and am familiar with other music packages such as Sibelius, Pro Tools, Garage Band, Cubase and Sonar as well as additional instrument and FX plugins. I also use arrange of analogue hardware processors in my own mastering studio. As a freelance audiobook producer, I have arranged studio recording sessions, organised equipment and setup temporary solutions for home recording, coached new VO’s online and in person, and then edited and mastered to industry standards for release on Amazon, Spotify, Apple and other platforms. I currently split my working life between audiobook production, I have currently produced well over 60 audiobook projects to date, and as the in-house mastering engineer for Media Tracks music library, for whom I have mastered over 300 albums of contemporary, jazz, folk, classical and many other styles of music. I have created music for short films, corporate videos, radio shows and podcasts and recorded, mixed and produced for several artists including string and saxophone quartets as well as contemporary bands and classical choral works. I have an MMus in Composing for Film & TV which gave me access to several Pro Tools HD rigs with a selection of 24 to 48 channel desks and a wide range of outboard FX. I have undertaken to constantly improve my understanding and to remain aware of development in the audio & music industry through addition courses and my own research into evolving technology, legal and copyright issues (I am a PRS member) and the changing distribution and consumption platforms currently available. I also spent 3 years as a part-time PhD student at the University of Kent looking at the integration of space in composition and surround sound diffusion systems.
