Never Let You Go - Dolby Atmos Mix (Binaural Render)
A certified Dolby Atmos mix for a pop-electronic track, showcasing the spatial audio capabilities that are rapidly becoming industry standard for streaming platforms and immersive playback systems.
Project Scope:
This project involved creating a full Dolby Atmos mix from stereo stems, transforming a conventional pop-electronic production into an immersive three-dimensional soundscape.
The binaural render presented here demonstrates how spatial audio technology can enhance listener engagement, even through standard headphones, while the full Atmos mix is optimized for compatible playback systems including Apple Music Spatial Audio, Tidal, and home theater configurations.
Technical Approach:
The Atmos mixing process required reimagining the stereo arrangement in three-dimensional space. Rather than simply spreading elements wider, the approach focused on creating natural depth and height that serves the song's emotional arc and production aesthetic. Vocal positioning, synth movement, and percussion placement were carefully considered to enhance the track's energy while maintaining mono compatibility and translation across all playback formats.
Key technical considerations included:
Object-based audio routing for dynamic spatial movement
Height channel utilization for atmospheric elements and build-ups
LFE management for consistent low-end translation
Binaural encoding optimization for headphone playback
Loudness normalization to meet platform specifications (-18 LUFS integrated for streaming)
Quality control across fold-down configurations (7.1.4, 5.1, stereo)
Certification Process:
The mix meets all Dolby Atmos certification requirements for commercial release, including technical specifications for streaming platform delivery. This certification ensures the track translates correctly across the entire ecosystem of Atmos-enabled devices, from AirPods to cinema systems.
Industry Context:
With major streaming platforms prioritizing spatial audio content and offering preferential algorithmic treatment for Atmos mixes, this technology is no longer experimental—it's essential for competitive releases. This project demonstrates fluency with the tools, workflows, and technical requirements needed to deliver professional immersive audio content.
Demonstration Value:
This binaural render allows A&R representatives, artists, and producers to experience the possibilities of spatial audio through any stereo headphone system. The full Atmos mix reveals even greater dimension when played through compatible systems, but this render effectively communicates the technology's potential for adding depth, movement, and listener engagement to modern productions.
