Tēnā koutou,
I am writing to express my strong interest in the position of Music Composer. With over two decades of professional and educational experience in music production, screen composition, and digital media across Aotearoa and Australia, I am excited by the opportunity to contribute dynamic compositions that enhance the narrative of the picture and nail the brief.
My career has been guided by a passion for music and storytelling through sound. As a freelance composer and sound designer, I have developed music for a range of screen-based projects, most notably with the University of New South Wales 3DXLab, where I composed original soundtracks and sound design for several interactive VR medical simulations. These projects showcased internationally—including at SIGGRAPH—and illustrate my commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with creative composition. This work has helped me understand the profound role music plays in enhancing immersive screen experiences and in shaping audience perception and emotional engagement.
In parallel to my industry practice, I have extensive tertiary teaching experience, currently working part-time at MAINZ (SIT Polytechnic) teaching electronic music production, live performance, and music business. I also teach accredited Adobe video, audio, and motion graphics courses with Nexacu Training (City Desktop). These roles reflect not only my broad technical expertise across music and screen disciplines.
My academic foundation includes a New Zealand Certificate in Adult & Tertiary Teaching (Level 4) and multiple qualifications in screen media, music industry, and multimedia. I bring strong technical proficiency in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reason, and the Adobe Creative Suite, along with advanced skills in audio production, soundtrack composition, sound design, and visual media. I am especially confident in MID orchestration, synthesis, sound design and creating sonic environments that elevate narrative and gameplay in interactive formats.
In parallel to my teaching career I have constantly been creating, releasing and performing my own electronic based music under the pseudonyms “Deep Fried Dub” and “Alpha Channel” since 2003.
Deep Fried Dub played an active part in early electronic music festival culture in Aotearoa and Australia.
