Carlo Natoli is a musician, composer, sound and video engineer whose practice spans multiple disciplines. He began his musical training as a classical guitarist in Sicily before moving to Bologna, Treviso and Trieste to study electroacoustic music and electronic sound technologies. His compositional work encompasses music for dance, theatre, film and live performance, whilst as a songwriter he moves fluidly between folktronica, indie rock and experimental forms. He is one of three founders of the music collective Improvvisatore Involontario, and has played and recorded with Gianni Gebbia, Xavier Garcia Bardon, Michel Godard, Nuno Rebelo, Cane Capovolto, Vincenzo Vasi and many others. Alongside his artistic practice, Carlo has worked extensively in communications and audiovisual production, collaborating with agencies and research institutions including Fabrica (Benetton’s communications research centre). Since relocating to London in 2015, Carlo has concentrated on video engineering, data sonification and hacktivism, bringing together his diverse technical skills and commitment to experimental practice.
