Hi, I'm Chelsey. I live in Sunnyside, Queens with my orange cat, Grilled Cheese. I have experience working in fine arts archives, however, my interests are not limited fine art. In my free time, I maintain my own image archive, which includes taking, but primarily collecting, digitizing, retouching/preserving, and interpreting photographs and found ephemera (e.g. postcards, negatives, and 35mm slides); I have a passion for the arts and take inspiration from various mediums, such as design, film, literature, music, and even dance. As an avid music fan, I frequently create themed playlists that span musical genres, and, using photographs from my archive, design their cover art. I do not utilize AI in my designs.

uniE621 working title: any combination of words | November - December '24
"working title: any combination of words" belongs to a series of semi-monthly playlists I create which document and explore the relationships between music, memory, and archives. As with all of the playlists I design, the song selection and sequencing is done by me, in addition to the cover art, which utilizes materials from my own image archive. While attending school in Florida over 10 years ago, I would always return home (to New Jersey, at the time) for a month off between semesters. Studying for my final exams, I would frequently romanticize about wintertime; sometimes this was reflected in the music I listened to. Music and and memory are so inextricably linked, I suppose it's no coincidence I'm interested in music and archives, or archives and music. I have memories of playing Beach House (specifically their self-titled album, and "Devotion") and Braids' "flourish // perish," reveling in bleak, atmospheric, and delicate arrangements that took me elsewhere. I have other memories of being in New Jersey and frequenting a nearby Catholic girls' college, to explore and take pictures of the empty campus. For years I've thought about boarding a train in winter, alone, and revisiting that campus or the surrounding downtown area. And when I think of doing that, I think of music. So this is the playlist I made for the person I was, and the person I am. Spotify link: https://www.twine.net/signin
uniE621 shoot from the hip | May - June '24
"shoot from the hip" belongs to a series of semi-monthly playlists I create which document and explore the relationships between music, memory, and archives. As with all of the playlists I design, the song selection and sequencing is done by me, in addition to the cover art, which utilizes materials from my own image archive. This "fun" summer playlist was largely inspired by the works of one of my favorite filmmakers, Ana Lily Amirpour. I've long admired how thoughtfully and seamlessly Amirpour weaves music/soundtracks into her storylines; within her films, the presence of music, which cannot be ignored, is practically omnipotent. There are a few tracks within this playlists that I have lovingly poached from her films, or artists/albums I have discovered as a result. This playlist is "fun" in the way that her movies are "fun"—absolutely, but also dark, weird, sensual, humorous, psychedelic, dangerous, sweet, hungry, and instinct-driven. uniE621 "Couch Potato" | Restored Photograph, Date Unknown
Restored found photograph from my own image archive. This photograph was scanned at a high resolution, with minor imperfections and dust spots removed carefully by hand using Adobe Photoshop. The damage, including the tear along the upper left portion, the crease across the upper right side, and the stain on the bottom right corner of the image were kept to showcase the tangibility and age of the photograph itself. Color correction was utilized intentionally to reduce the yellow cast of the scan, but not so much as to compromise the original look and feel of the image. To emphasize the photograph's deckled edges, the scanned image has been superimposed onto a clean white backdrop.

    uniE621 Mom | Restored Family Photograph, 1972
Restored family photograph from my own image archive. This photograph was scanned at a high resolution, with minor imperfections and dust spots removed carefully by hand using Adobe Photoshop. To achieve (and emphasize) the same dramatic, abyssal look of the original hard copy, a combination of color correction and strategic placement of solid color filters were utilized.
