Owner/Designer/Developer at Barrelmaker Studios: Small Batch Code & Creative
January 31, 2024 - Present
Barrelmaker Studios is nerdy about solving real problems for small businesses. From print, digital, and branding design to websites and web apps to software, tech, and productivity workflows. We help you clearly define the challenge, then implement the right mix of design, code, and tech to solve it. Primary Achievement: Helped migrate the Green Dragon Fest website from Hubspot to a custom server, including significant redesigns, in under 6 weeks, leading to the event selling out.
Senior Manager, CRO Front End Engineer at Dentsu Media US
March 31, 2023 - September 9, 2025
As a CRO engineer I implemented tactical A/B tests on client-owned platforms, such as Adobe Target, Instapage, and Wordpress as well as a proprietary CMS system. Clients included Discover Financial Services, Enterprise Car Rentals, Atkins, American Residential Services, Xfinity/Comcast, Cox Cable, Charter Communications, WoW Internet, Anthem BCBS, Humana & Centerwell Pharmacy. Primary Achievement: Contributed to massive double-digit conversion rate increase for American Residential Services by implementing a custom Javascript solution in the Instapage platform that enabled the creation of fully customizable landing pages in as little as two minutes per page.
Senior Front-end Web Developer at Dentsu Media US
January 8, 2018 - March 30, 2023
As a senior front-end developer I created reusable UI components for use on client landing pages within a proprietary CMS, including UI interactions and application behavior in Javascript, API implementation, and CI/CD maintenance. Clients included Xfinity/Comcast, Cox Cable, Charter Communications, Spectrum Internet, WoW Internet, Anthem BCBS and Medicaid, Humana & Centerwell Pharmacy. Primary Achievements: 75% reduction in estimated development time on non-modular Humana Pharmacy landing pages with different designs by implementing shared configurable SCSS stylesheet, and Reduced API calls for custom Smarty geolocation API implementation from thousands per user session to dozens per user session for Spectrum Internet landing pages by saving large returned dataset locally before further filtering, which significantly reduced geolocation service costs.
Scrum Master & Technical Lead at GogoAir LLC
May 1, 2018 - January 4, 2019
Achieved highest velocity scrum team for three consecutive months by focusing on shipping high quality, bug-free code rather than number of completed stories
Senior Front End Engineer at GogoAir LLC
February 1, 2016 - May 1, 2018
Reduced number of client repositories from 11 to 1 by implementing configurable SCSS stylesheets powered by mixins and functions that applied different designs to identical templates according to variable values and dynamic layout logic. Client repository reduction significantly improved delivery of frontend code to in-flight aircraft by streamlining the frontend portion of the CI/CD pipeline.
Front End Engineer, Contract at Leapfrog Online
August 1, 2015 - February 1, 2016
Reduced development times by 10-15% by developing reusable, configurable SCSS solution and collaborating with teams to implement it across client code-bases. Implemented atomic styling methodologies across client code-bases, reducing the need for bespoke CSS development, which further reduced development times. Clients included Xfinity/Comcast, Cox Cable, Charter Communications, WoW Internet, Anthem BCBS, Humana & Centerwell Pharmacy.
Front End Engineer at Marlin Network
November 1, 2013 - August 1, 2015

    paper Blue Lotus Neuropsychology

[Blue Lotus Neuropsychology](https://www.twine.net/signin is a psychological and neuropsychological testing practice based in Evanston, Illinois. I partnered with the practice prior to launch, making this a full end-to-end engagement spanning brand identity, website design and development, and ongoing management.

    The Challenge

Blue Lotus was preparing to open with no name, identity, or online presence. The goal was to communicate trust, professionalism, and care to patients navigating complex evaluations.

    Objectives included:

    • Develop a name and identity that felt credible but not cold
    • Create a website that clearly explained services and set expectations
    • Launch quickly without locking into rigid tools or unnecessary costs
    • Build a foundation that could evolve as the practice grew

    Building the Brand

I began with naming and brand consultation, researching similar practices across Chicagoland. Once Blue Lotus Neuropsychology was selected, I developed the visual identity.

Lotus imagery is common in health spaces, so the goal was distinction. The final logo uses overlapping translucent blue forms to reflect layered assessment and the process of untangling cognitive patterns.

    Deliverables included:

    • A primary logo system
    • Light and dark variations
    • Color and grayscale versions
    • Print-ready assets

This ensured consistency across digital and print.

    Website Version 1: Fast Launch

To establish an online presence quickly, I launched the initial site on Squarespace, allowing patient outreach without delay.

As the site expanded, limitations became clear:

    • Maintaining visual cohesion required manual effort
    • Add-ons increased costs
    • Customization was restricted

Squarespace worked short term but was not sustainable.

Website Version 2: Custom and Scalable

After launch, I migrated the site to a custom build using a static site generator, a headless CMS, and reliable hosting.

    This provided:

    • Reusable page templates
    • A CMS staff can use confidently
    • Faster performance and improved accessibility
    • Full control over design and functionality

Self-managed hosting keeps costs predictable while allowing future integrations and growth.

    Ongoing Support

Blue Lotus remains an ongoing management client. I handle:

    • Hosting and monitoring
    • Updates and maintenance
    • Design refinements
    • Content and structural support

This allows the team to focus on patient care while their site remains secure and supported.

    The Outcome

Blue Lotus launched with a cohesive brand, a clear website, and a technical foundation built for growth.

Most importantly, the site helps prospective patients understand services, feel confident reaching out, and trust the practice from the first interaction.
