Joined a newly created frontend team to work on the design system and immediately identifi ed gaps in the design systems which could be improved. I shared my knowledge of how I would like the frontend at Bugcrowd to look like. Accomplishments: → Pioneer developer tools to enable scaling application development ○ Transition the frontend towards a using company wide approved standards and vendors ○ Created a developer cli tool using node, intruder and commander to provide an easy interface to help developers create new frontend repository ○ Research and cement standard practices for the frontend across the organisation → Maintain and improve the Design System repository ○ Add pre-push hooks, eslint, prettier and other developer tools ○ Tighten the type safety of the components being created ○ Provide my opinion on how components should be designed ○ Keeping third party packages up-to-date ○ Doing major frontend build changes to the different packages - jekyll + webpack, rollup, vite ○ Implemented scripts and tools to simplify documentation management for the design system → Introduced TypeScript to main platform ○ Proposed to the general engineering team why we should adopt typescript and came up with a plan to introduce TypeScript to the main application slowly ○ Put all the tools in place to ensure TS support in the main application ○ Implement a multi-step migration plan spanning months to transition the main application from JS to TS → Provide frontend support to other teams ○ Got introduced to NextJS and ServerSideRendering (SSR) whilst providing support to other teams at Bugcrowd ○ Identifi ed issues with the infrastructure in that project and its use of SSR and raised it. ○ Provided opinion on how things should be done → Learn to write a bit of Ruby and Kotlin code in the different projects → Lots more.
