Video Editing: We dove deep into editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and Capcut, learning to assemble footage, manipulate pacing, and enhance the narrative flow. Mastery of transitions, sound syncing, and colour correction were key focuses, as well as the ability to tell a coherent story through post-production. This part of the course taught us how crucial the editor’s role is in shaping the final vision of the film. Screenplay Writing: In screenplay writing classes, we focused on the structure of storytelling, crafting compelling characters, and creating natural, engaging dialogue. Workshops allowed us to receive and give feedback, teaching us how to refine scripts and collaborate creatively. The curriculum covered both short and feature-length films, helping us understand different formats, genres, and tones. Voiceover Skills: Voiceover training sharpened our vocal delivery techniques, enabling us to match voice tone and style to various film genres. We practiced microphone techniques, breath control, and script interpretation, learning to bring characters or narrations to life through our voices. We explored different styles, from narration in show reels to dynamic voice acting for films. Show Hosting: In show hosting, we developed on-camera presence, learning to engage audiences with a mix of confidence, charisma, and professionalism. Acting Skills: Acting classes helped us understand how to embody a character, with emphasis on physicality, voice, and emotional depth. We learned methods such as Meisner and Stanislavski, exploring how to create believable performances. Whether acting for film or stage, we practiced improvisation, and character study, focusing on developing emotional truth and building relationships with fellow actors on set. Overall, film school provided a dynamic environment where we could experiment with different aspects of filmmaking, from behind-the-scenes editing and writing to performing in front of the camera. The range of skills we gained prepared us to work in various capacities within the film and entertainment industries.
