The Might Asterix is a legend of the New Zealand reggae scene. The first Reggae type toaster=mc in the south pacific. His MC'ing and vocal skills have seen him gain a first-class reputation both in New Zealand and internationally. Asterix began MC'ing in the early 80s in Palmerston North and was inspired by the likes of Dillinger, I-Roy, U-Roy, Dennis Brown and Frankie Paul. At the end of ’1982 he moved to Auckland joining The Twelve Tribes Rastafarians and there he got his sound system training doing fund raising shows for the 12Tribes. later in the decade around 88 until now he has worked closely with NZ`s Che Fu, Fat Freddys drop, Blackseeds, Stinky and DLT, in 1997 he and DLT released the first ever Jungle tune in the south pacific, called return of the lion king on the True school of hip hop album. Asterix eventually moved to Wellington in 2000 and now has traveled over to Australia and lives there for the moment, he works with all of the best crews and bands in town, and has recently performed at Kaikoura Roots and Soundsplash. Also from 2006 he has been the lead singer for SALMONELLA DUB NZ`S most popular Reggae dub dance band. International artists he has preformed with and or along side of include, SHAGGY THIRD WORLD JUDY MOWAT STEEL PULSE THE WAILIERS LUCIANO MIKEY GENERAL THE FUGEES ZION TRAIN DUB FX to name a few.
