Sign in: Gender: Male Age: 45 Birthday: 08/25/1969 Nationality: United States Citizen Religion: Christen currently lives: St. George, UT Languages spoken: English EDUCATION 1988 High School Graduate Orange High, Orange City, CA 1992-1994 Associates Degree Arts/Theory of music University of Anchorage, AK (UAA) Taste in music: Country, Rock, Blue Grass, and Classical Goals and Ambitions; I knew as a teenager around fourteen I had to learn how to play the guitar when my uncle Larry introduced me to the greats of country music. Merle Haggard, Waylon, Cash, Willy, and of course the list goes on. So Uncle Larry did just that. He helped me pick up my first guitar in a little Mom and Pop pawn shop in Temple City California for fifty bucks. Let’s just say my fingers had seen better days. I played that old Yamaha until they bled. It would be about two years later, I discovered putting music to poems. Learning to write and organize words and rhyme, felt good, it felt right. Shortly after writing a half of dozen horrible songs or so looking back on it now, yeah just horrible, I discovered the chicks loved it, especially if I wrote about them. I have been writing for over twenty five years now and I have really gained a true love for writing and my craft. I absolutely love to create a picture and tell the story with my lyrics for the listener. It all begins with a song as the pros say. I spent my fair share of time in music city USA in my younger years and found out that while trying to become this big country superstar who also could write his own songs, realized if the stars in my eyes ever burned out, song writing could be an alternate means of an exciting way to may a decent living within the music field. It has been just that, exciting but also filled with frustration, disappointment and rejection. I was not giving up. My tenacity accompanied with “I will be successful as a songwriter attitude”, would push me all the way to my goal of BMI’S songwriter of the year and being invited to the CMA’s someday. The CMA’s have yet to call me and well, I am still waiting on being nominated for BMI’s songwriter of the year, but the desire to achieve my goals still burns in me. My time spent as an aspiring songwriter has been such a great learning experience and a time to grow and network with some very talented writers and musicians throughout the years, I wouldn’t change a thing.WWWW

Tips For Writing Your Job Brief

Here’s a statistic for you:

75% of the pitches for jobs online are from freelancers who are not qualified to do the work

But why?

Because the brief doesn't clearly explain what the client needs, so freelancers pitch in hoping that the project might match their skills.

On Twine, we manually vet all the pitches that a client receives to save them from spending hours filtering out unqualified freelancers.

However, it’s still really important to make your project brief stand out by keeping it simple, yet detailed

Clear and concise job briefs allow freelance composers to quickly scan your requirements and determine if they’re a good fit for your project before getting in touch.

When pitching to composers online, make sure to include the following information in your job brief:

  • Who you are
  • What you need (and why)
  • The size of your project
  • Your vision for the project
  • Examples of styles you like
  • Target audience
  • Budget
  • Deadline

Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a composer?

Here's the deal

Stock music can be sniffed out a mile away.

And the worst part?

Stock music comes off as lazy, stale and impersonal.

Commissioning a vibrant and original soundtrack for your project will show your audience you mean business from the get-go.

Still not convinced?

Here are three other benefits of hiring a freelance composer over buying stock music:

Creative Control

Stock music forces you to try and make your project fit the soundtrack. Hiring a composer allows you to put your project first and fit the soundtrack to the project.

Looking to create more than one piece of music? Working with a composer ensures consistency across not only your soundtrack, but your wider branding.

Price Point

High-quality stock music can be expensive, with most services locking you into a monthly subscription. Hiring a freelance composer allows you to pay for original, fit-for-purpose music as and when you require it.

How can music benefit my business?

Here’s another statistic:

24% of consumers are more-likely to buy a product when music they like is being played.

If you aren’t already using music as a core aspect of your branding, you should be!

But why is music such a powerful sales tool?

Here are the three main advantages that an original piece of music can bring to your business:

Speak your customers’ language

Align yourself with your customer base by using music that represents their values, interests and personalities.

Stand out from the competition

Be a business that people remember. An original earworm will set you apart from those forgettable royalty-free soundtracks your competitors are using.

Improve Customer Experience

Create an atmosphere your customers love through the music you use.

What’s the difference between a composer and a producer?

Great question:

Composers write & arrange original music. They usually work with clients who require a soundtrack for a visual medium, such as a commercial, film, explainer video or theater production.

Producers serve as project managers for the recording process. They work directly with both composers and musical artists to navigate the recording and ensure the end result is as good as it can be. While producers often work on soundtracks for visual mediums, they more-commonly work on commercial recorded music.

But what if you need both?

Luckily, many freelance composers double as highly-skilled producers and can handle both stages of the process. These freelancers will market themselves as a ‘composer/producer’.

If you require a freelancer who can handle both composition and production, make sure to mention this in your job description.
