Hi, I’m Jalen Fryer, a freelance animator and Digital Animation graduate based in Atlanta, GA. I love bringing characters, environments, effects, and action to life through high-quality animation across a wide range of styles and programs.
I’m motivated to grow by innovating, collaborating on diverse projects, and delivering engaging visuals. As founder of Fryer Studios, I create personal projects, take commissions, and continue to expand my craft across cartoons and anime while exploring various mediums.

The following project aimed to bring an original character to life by demonstrating an action. Adobe Photoshop was used for the boards Toon Boom Harmony was used for the animation, and Adobe After Effects was used for the blending of effects and compositing. WIP
The goal of this project was to create storyboards of a scene from Family Guy Season 1, Episode 4; Mind Over Murder. I chose scene 55-56 during Act 3 where Peter and Louis are at the Supermarket. Instead of just going off the base footage from the show, I went off the audio and script set for the scene. I took full advantage of this by editing the audio to space out how I wanted the scene to be paced. I even emphasized some aspects like Peter’s unrelenting anxiety with additional shots as we’re first shown him in the store. Some art and backgrounds were made in Adobe Photoshop, the character art and pacing was done with Toon Boom Harmony, and Adobe After Effects was used for the editing and composite. Lastly, I made character designs for Peter and Louis at the beginning of this project since I was able to explore different art styles.
The goal of this project was to create visuals that work with a song of choice. After choosing and editing ‘livingroom’ by Kensuke Ushio’s Chainsaw Man OST, I directed and synced the animation in a way that felt fitting in my vision. Toon Boom Harmony was used for the animation and Adobe After Effects was used for the editing and composition.
The goal of this project was to animate objects using vector shapes imported from Adobe Illustrator into Adobe After Effects and create transitions with them. I boarded an animatic traditionally and clipped each shot together to plan things out.
The goal of this project was to insert or come up with a new scene in an existing media. I chose to adapt a scene from the Attack on Titan Manga that was not included in the anime of the series. This scene would take place nearing the end of Chapter 51 / Final scene of Season 2 where a conversation is held between Pyxis, Erwin, and Levi. Majority of this and other parts of the chapter were cut, so this felt like a scene that would not only be good to adapt, but be possible within the timespan I had to work. I chose to include glimpses from cut frames that would be shown prior to this scene by incorporating them with with the exposition from Pyxis. In the manga, the dialogue is more straight forward and static while my approach aims to be more visually significant by emphasizing the themes of the series. This would even serve to fit the pacing of the show without feeling cramped or drawn out.
The goal of this project was to integrate animation into a live action video. In order to do this, I recorded myself grabbing a ball midair which I drew over frames by frame in Toon Boom Harmony. The following cut used the same process and the animation was mostly done with a straight forward approach. Adobe After Effects was used for the overall composition and editing.
Throughout this project, I wanted to explore the depths of the human figure. I studied its complexities, various shapes, 3-Dimensionality, and differing forms and delivered this by expressing a constant state of morphing. We all come in different shapes and sizes and this theme is further emphasized by having the figure vary in both poses and mediums. There’s not a single piece in this film that is meant to represent the same artistic approach. Pieces vary in complexity, angles, detail, and shape.
This was a hybrid, multi-media piece. I used various mediums such as charcoal, red and blue ballpoint pens, black ink pens, markers, watercolor paint, colored pencils and graphite. Additionally, digital paintings were created in photoshop and compiled with the physical drawings to create a cohesive sequence / animation.
Animation was done in Toon Boom Harmony while the storyboards and digital shots were done in Adobe Photoshop. WIP
The goal of this project was to have one object morph into another. After storyboards were made, I used the straight ahead method as I animated this sequence. The animation was done in Toon Boom Harmony while the boards / style frames were done in Adobe Photoshop. WIP
The goal of this project was to create a video that utilizes Adobe After Effects and multiple layers to create a parallax effect. This gave me the chance to utilize, repurpose and fully realize the vision I had set for the walk cycle I made in my Foundation Animation class.
The animation was done in Toon Boom Harmony and the background assets were drawn in Adobe Photoshop.
The goal of this project was to bring to life an Aesop Fabel. In this case being The Crow and The Snake, I used Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe After Effects to create a motion book that illustrates the actions described by the audio. Boards were made in Adobe Photoshop prior.
Over the course of 8 months I sought to reimagine the iconic beam struggle of the remaining Saiyan warriors in my own vision. The action direction was meant to be synced with the OST from the Dragon Ball Super Broly Movie and was partially animated traditionally. Corrections, inbetweens, and some cuts were completed digitally on the mobile app, Animation Creator. Audio for voices was used between the Dbz original Funimation Dub and the Dub for Dbz Kai.
