Hello! My name is Joseph Cheng, and I am a graphic designer specializing in brand identity, visual storytelling, and experiential design. I recently graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where I spent the past four years developing branding and graphics for entrepreneurs, athletes, and small businesses. As a designer with experience creating brands centered around café culture and hospitality, your project caught my eye. For my senior capstone, I designed a brand identity for a premium Taiwanese tea house and brought it to life through a gallery exhibition and exclusive popup. Inspired by Taiwanese visual culture and my family's history, I created a brand system, including a mascot, that felt authentic and distinct from other cafés in Los Angeles. From developing the brand strategy to designing custom aprons, curating a brand-specific playlist, and crafting an immersive popup environment, I fell in love with the process of making every detail feel warm, intentional, and memorable. My design approach is rooted in research, craftsmanship, and storytelling. I strive to balance simplicity with personality in my designs, and I would love the opportunity to help create a brand that reflects your Scandinavian and Japanese influences while connecting with a community that values great coffee and music. I look forward to learning more about your vision and collaborating to build a visual identity that is innovative yet grounded.
