- Dead Brother's Song
"The Dead Brother's Song" (Greek: Το Τραγούδι Του Νεκρού Αδερφού, or most commonly Του Νεκρού Αδερφού) is a Greek poem, considered to be the oldest surviving dimotikó, which are traditional Greek folk songs. The song was composed in Asia Minor in the 9th century, during the time of the Byzantine Empire. It is not known whether it was actually set to music or it was merely a poem meant to be recited, as it only survives as a text. music: Kostika Çollaku lyrics: dimotikó miroloi (traditional lament) singers: Ifigenia Papouli, Penelope Broomhead-Petromelidou, Pelagia Xatzinikita, Maria Kondylidou, Evi Sarmi. text translation: Where can I put my tears now that you passed away? If they fall upon the black earth, the grass won't grow, If they fall into the river, the river will dry out if they fall into the sea, the boats will be drowning and if I lock them in my heart, soon I'll be joining you.

Soprano: Maria Taxidou Drawings: Ifigeneia Mavridou Composition, Text and Piano: Kostika Çollaku As we suffer the absence of light, in the darkness devided we stand. Our life like a long dark tunnel is waiting for us to be crossed. Fly my fearless bird, go to the other side and then fly back to tell me what you saw. I have lost my faith, for the answer and light. My years of longing are over though, I see a white spot in the sky. Come to me my bird and give me hope. You look so calm, but why are you bleeding? contemporary classical soprano piano studiorecording

Composer: Kostika Çollaku Lyrics: Maria Georgantzeli Singer: Ifigeneia Mavridou Guitar: Victor Voulgaropoulos I have lost my dignity and I'm faced with the consequence ...of my arrogance but I don't plea insanity. There is much I'm yet to deal but that's the way I'm gonna heal. Breathe in, breathe out and if you feel it, baby, shout! But now that you can be a lot more than you now see. I trash what I have felt tear down all that I've built... I know what I have done, how shallow I've become. but yet I've come to learn just so my faith back I can earn... But friend, just heed my warning your life is all you keep postponing... Breathe in, breathe out and if you feel it, baby, shout! But now that you can be a lot more than you now see. acoustic guitar song
