Lance Cartelli is an Emmy Award-winning sports journalist turned character-driven drama and comedy screenwriter. His fascination with storytelling spawned from his desperation to entertain himself as an only child. That passion led Lance to an eclectic background working for Google, as a broadcaster in minor league baseball, and as a journalist for the NFL, CBS and Vox Media. Lance is a Stowe Story Fellow, and his writing has placed in multiple competitions—including Austin Film Festival, LaunchPad, Roadmap Writers and Final Draft. He enjoys exploring deeply flawed family dynamics and complicated relationships—in and out of the sports world—which inspired him to write his comedic family sports dramas BOOKIE OF THE YEAR and THE FRANCHISE. Lance lives in LA with his rescue dog Walter, who’s named after THE BIG LEBOWSKI and not BREAKING BAD, like everyone assumes.
