Hi, I’m Matt Gabnai, an audio director and lead/senior audio designer passionate about creating top-quality videogame and cinematic productions. With years of experience in sound design, music composition (I finished as an orchestra conductor in my formal school in Budapest), and audio integration, I love helping teams achieve their best work using a rare set of competences that span multiple tools and platforms.
I specialize in immersive audio experiences, vehicle and environmental sound design, and AI audio training. I’m fluent in English, French and Hungarian, and thrive in collaborative, creative environments where quality matters most.

I recently interviewed for Riot Games, where my task was to create SFX for two champions. Instead of explaining my process in text, I decided to showcase the hierarchy and my approach in a video.
As the Audio Director of the project, I was responsible for all in-game SFX, music licensing, mixing and mastering, with the help of my team for integration and bugfixing.
This trailer is entirely made by me:
We made an episode about sound design, while I worked at Cloud Imperium Games: how I approached recording reverbs, integrating them into the game, mixing them for an immersive experience.

A simple, short 1:30 video showcasing the most popular projects I’ve worked on:
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, The Crew, Watchdogs, and others. ()
Recording a cover song in my home studio, rearrangement with soft synths, mixing, mastering.
Directing a short music video for my friend Balazs Farkas-Jenser while we both were in Budapest; lights, editing, post production.
I hold classes for students who are eager to get into audio design and music for games.
Between 2018 and 2020 I have decided to sit down and interview people I thought were interesting from my family or circle of friends, in 3 languages.
Here’s and example in English:
