The challenge
Erasmus University Rotterdam approached me to rebrand their Career Café — a series of forums run by the Alumni Department that connects students with alumni through informal career conversations. The old “Lighthouse” identity relied on ad-hoc visuals, making it hard to produce promotional materials that stood out or clearly communicated the events’ purpose. My goal was to create a cohesive brand identity that boosts recognition across platforms and drives engagement and signups among EUR students and young alumni.

The solution
I developed a flexible, approachable design system built on vibrant colours, playful graphics, hand-drawn doodles, and candid photography to capture the human, warm feel of the events. The logo draws on iconic road signs: three slightly “wonky,” rounded arrow-shaped signs pointing in different directions form the letter “E” for Erasmus, representing guidance, growth, and the journeys students and alumni take together. A bold core palette with trending accents evokes youth and openness, while a single typeface family (Aileron) keeps everything consistent and easy to customize.

Deliverables
Logo & visual identity, colour palette, typography, social media templates and banners (digital + physical), Canva-based template kit so the team can produce on-brand content independently, and full brand guidelines.
