As a freelance web developer, I focus on PHP/MySQL content management and e-commerce systems, along with front end HTML/CSS and Javascript coding. My biggest project was a bespoke website templating system called Stockashop which served over 100 online shops at its peak. Currently I use Wordpress or CakePHP as a base for all new websites, such as www.nickdavies.net for the ex-Guardian journalist Nick Davies, www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk and www.towngatetheatre.co.uk which are integrated with the Spetrix event management API. I have also written several technical articles for Smashing Magazine www.smashingmagazine.com/author/paul-tero, and I maintain a few open source projects and tutorials on my own website www.tero.co.uk.

PHP Developer at Zenlo

October 1, 2017 - January 30, 2026

Zenlo was on online retailer of personal safety items. I worked part-time to develop their in-house software for communicating via APIs with their selling platforms (Amazon, eBay and two Wordpress/WooCommerce websites), processing orders, printing labels, submitting VAT returns and other financial tasks. It was built on the MVC framework CakePHP. Another CakePHP project integrated with DHL and FedEx and has handled nearly half a million shipments to date. We also provided hosting services, and I helped to manage and maintain about 20 Wordpress websites. I still do freelance work for Tekate, the new name of Zenlo's software development arm.
