About the Role

Writers are responsible for helping Complexly achieve our mission of creating trustworthy stuff that inspires curiosity and lowers barriers to knowledge building by creating scripts that engage our audience. PBS Eons is an educational YouTube channel produced by PBS Digital Studios and Complexly. It explores the history of the Earth from the birth of the planet to the dawn of life, and up through the end of the most recent Ice Age.

Responsibilities

• Pitching, researching, writing, and revising scripts that are clear, compelling, accurate, and fascinating
• Ability to pitch original stories
• Meet deadlines
• Research a variety of topics
• Strong communication skills to convey topics to a broad audience

Requirements

We’re looking for a freelance writer with a strong background in natural history (paleontology, geology, evolutionary biology, etc) to help shape the content for Eons. These scripts vary from 1300-1500 words with the goals of: engaging with people’s curiosity; telling an interesting story; and making sure they’re factually accurate so we can inspire learning.
