Your New Role:

The Senior Motion Designer (Temporary), formerly known as the Sr. Production Designer, is an expert in television and studio production, responsible for delivering timely and engaging design for the CNN news group’s wide-reaching audience. The position involves collaboration with CNN’s design team, clients, and editorial partners. Proficiency in the Adobe suite, particularly After Effects and Photoshop, is required. Experience with Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine, and Vizrt is preferred. Broadcast experience is a must.

Your Role Accountabilities:

• Conceptualize, design, and produce still and animated graphics and design elements as assigned
• Ensure adherence to design standards and brand guidelines, consulting Creative Directors when needed
• Collaborate effectively with the production team and coordinate design production with Design Directors, Assistant Art Directors, and Producers
• Work with the Vizrt team to maintain consistency in design elements
• Manage time and resources efficiently to deliver projects on time
• Handle compositing sessions under pressure and tight deadlines
• Motivate, train, and manage team members as directed
• Stay updated on current and emerging technologies and provide input on new equipment purchases
• Maintain a working knowledge of current events
• Maintain professional standards, including during breaking news coverage
• Flexibility in schedule, including weekends and overnight hours if required
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and pay attention to detail
• Degree from an accredited art school or equivalent work experience in graphic design or related fields
• Software proficiency: After Effects, Cinema4D, Photoshop, Illustrator, Unreal Engine, Audition, ZBrush
• Plugin knowledge: RedGiant, Boris FX, Sapphire, AE Expression, C4D Expresso, Octane Render, X-Particles, Cycle4D, etc.
• Reel showcasing previous work, including 2-3 case studies and specific contributions

Qualifications & Experience:

• 4+ years of experience in television or equivalent
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Awareness of current events
• Schedule flexibility, including weekends and overnight hours
• Ability to manage multiple projects and pay attention to detail
• Degree from accredited art school or equivalent work experience in graphic design or related fields
• Proficiency in software mentioned above
