As a videographer for Law&Crime Trial Network, your primary responsibility will be capturing footage and setting up audio and video equipment for live events and news coverage at the Santa Fe County Courthouse. This is a temporary position with specific dates and hours during the trial period. Key responsibilities include shooting stand-ups and live shots with a reporter, setting up for news conferences, ensuring high-quality lighting and audio in outdoor conditions, and maintaining a commitment to the trial’s duration, which could last up to 2 weeks. Courthouse hours are from Monday to Friday, allowing you to work on other projects outside of that time. Upholding and enforcing Law&Crime Network’s national standards and practices, as well as editorial and branding guidelines, is essential.
Requirements for Success:
- Must possess a camera capable of 1080i quality, preferably an HD video camera with an SDI output that can be plugged into power. DSLR cameras are not accepted.
- Must have one wireless microphone and one stick mic.
- Tripod with a fluid head is required.
- Ability to record and transfer footage as a backup.
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with local media and courthouse employees in the field.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with staff via phone.
- Familiarity with TVU or Live U streaming devices.
- Proactive troubleshooting ability and independent work approach.
- Knowledge of IFB’s (interruptible foldback systems).
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
This position offers a great opportunity for freelancers. The daily rate for each freelancer position is approximately $350-$500 per day, with weekly payment. Our ideal candidate is an experienced videographer who has worked on live events, including audio and video setup. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of sports, news, or live streaming. While experience in broadcast news, courts, or live sports is preferred, it is not required. Candidates must be able to commit to the trial’s duration, but it is possible to split this work with another team member with advance approval. This assignment does not involve post-production work.
