Contract: Part-time (6 Months)
The School of Optometry is seeking a Software Developer/Computer Programmer to work with the Swanson Lab to collaborate on a short-term temporary project that will involve modifying existing custom perimetry software. Custom perimetry is used for testing visual function in healthy controls and patients with glaucoma.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
- Familiarizes themselves with custom perimetry software (developed in the programming language R) that uses the results of retinal image analysis to guide choice of perimetric algorithms.
- Makes modifications to the code in collaboration with the PI and project manager.
- Thoroughly tests and documents the software.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (or near completion) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years programming experience in a scientific or professional environment
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered
SKILLS
Required
- Advanced knowledge in R and RStudio
Preferred
- Experience or understanding of perimetric algorithms
- Experience in vision science
- Experience using Shiny R
