Job Description
HII Mission Technologies Fleet Sustainment is seeking a Technical Artist 1 to support 2D graphics development for various projects within its Multimedia group! This position is located at our NetCenter in Hampton, VA with a HYBRID work schedule available once fully trained. The selected candidate must be able to create 2D illustrations of real-life objects using limited source materials (photos, drawings). This is a temporary assignment expected to last 365 days. (Potential to convert to full-time)

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Performs or assists in developing a wide range of multimedia materials for various applications including, but not limited to, real-time simulation and training applications and assists in defining and supporting the production pipeline.
- Performs analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing, debugging, and maintenance to incorporate multimedia assets, including 2D and/or 3D graphics, streaming video, and audio, into virtual and other environments.
- Creates highly detailed and real-world scale 3D models targeting simulation and training industry standard gaming engines.
- Coordinates with instructional designers, engineers, artists, subject matter experts, and project professionals to employ a wide range of skills and software tools in support of the visual and technical designs for various virtual and other environments.
- Authors or assists in documenting of briefs, project or task plans, technical reports, and user manuals.
- Requires background with relevant multimedia development tools (including but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Scene, Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Mudbox, Autodesk Recap, Faro Scene), experience with 3D techniques(including modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, animating, shading), and real time game engines (including Unity, Unreal, CryEngine) and asset production.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
- Digital portfolio with samples of illustration work (include with résumé)
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to create 2D illustrations that appear three dimensional
- Knowledge of vector illustration techniques (stroke effects, gradients, shading, etc.)
- Knowledge of foundational design principles
- Attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate illustration skills
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with graphic print production
- Experience designing newsletters and/or other printed media
- Experience using professional digital cameras or video cameras
- Photo and Video editing experience
- Experience working on US Navy vessels
- Having a Clearance is a plus
Physical Requirements
In this role you must have excellent visual acuity to edit and change print and video material.
