Production Assistant
Wondrium is looking for a Production Assistant who can support our mission to create engaging courses that satisfy the curiosity and interests of lifelong learners. Meeting the challenges of a deadline-driven audio/video production environment, you will be part of a dedicated team that works with university professors and other experts to develop the words and the stories that bring complex ideas to life.
Responsibilities:
- Teleprompter operation, including basic script preparation
- Set lighting/rigging
- Basic Grip functions
- Basic Camera Setup/Prep/Operations
- Setting/using body-worn and stand microphones
- Set dressing/detailing
- Floor managing/directing/assisting
- Take lunch orders and purchase other food and drink for the studio
- Assist with other aspects of pre and postproduction as assigned
Environment:
This is an in-office position at our Chantilly, VA studios.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting equipment up to 35 pounds in weight occasionally and the ability to carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Sitting and standing for long periods of time
- Climbing ladders up to 12’ occasionally
Requirements:
- Associate degree or higher in television/media or related field, OR minimum 1-2 years’ prior experience in media production
- Attention to detail, with a keen editorial eye for catching errors
- Strong, detail-oriented work ethic, self-motivation and positive attitude
- Able to perform efficiently and professionally under stress and deadlines
- Intellectual curiosity across multiple disciplines
- Strong basic computer skills & knowledge of MS OFFICE software
- Must have own transportation
Preferences:
- Bachelor’s degree in television/media or closely related field
- Prior experience as Production Assistant, Floor Manager, Camera Assistant, Camera Operator on film/video/media productions
- Knowledge of basic media production standards, operations, and safety
- Medium/Advance knowledge of MS OFFICE, Adobe Creative Suite, and any industry standard prompting program(s)
- Prior experience with ENG/EFP video equipment, including cameras (Sony FS7, Sony A7, Canon C100, etc.), lights (Arriflex, KinoFlo, Nila, Intellytech, Aputure), microphones, grip equipment, etc.
